Last night I was preparing one of my favorite dishes, roasted brussels sprouts with lemon & anchovies. I took my perfectly roasted brussels sprouts out of the oven, and as I have done a million times before, I placed the hot baking dish right on the ceramic counter.
And it exploded.
Literally.
I had glass powder in my shirt. I found a chunk of glass later in my bra. A chunk lodged itself into my hand when I was digging out the glass shards that somehow made their way into the garbage disposal.
I should have taken a pic, but I was sad and in shock.
The worst part of all of this was that I couldn't eat my brussels sprouts.
Turns out, it exploded because the counter was wet. I have put hot glass on the counter millions of times, I guess it was always dry before...huh.

Right now I'm thinking my visit will be from May 26-June 5, I am hoping Carlos can get that time off of work so he can come too, or at least part of it.
I wish we could do a girl dinner, with Ann and Jeana, and have it be just like old times. Just without me being chubby and awkward.
I love Trader Joes. They have amazing foods, like the seafood sausages made with shrimp, white fish and scallops....soooo good. Best peanut butter cups ever, best peanut butter for that matter, no sugar added and I can literally eat it with a spoon (never been one for that tendency before). What else...what else...oh! They have Sashimi grade Ahi, Trader Mings microwavable Pad-Thai, best ranch dressing you will ever taste, cherry apple cider (during season), a variety of delectable cheeses and meats, seafood deals that keep my freezer full, a broad range of store brand wines that are under ten dollars and really, REALLY good. A favorite is the Vino Verde, notable by its green bottle, it is made only in Portugal...very light and soothing and a just bit of sparkle...best part...3.99, I gave this as a birthday gift to a wine connoisseur, her husband skeptical of the long neck but low and behold, they LOVED it. This store has a co-op sort of feel, organic goodies and just a simple straight forwardness I adore, in-out, bada-bing, bada-boom.
